Liam had been watching Wendy the entire time, his chest tightening with worry, only to ease once he saw her mood begin to lift.

Before Liam could respond, a pair of glaring headlights hit them from across the lot.
Wendy shielded her eyes. The parked car's door opened, and a figure stepped out.
As the man walked closer, Wendy recognized who it was—James.
Liam frowned. "Do you want to head upstairs?"
