Wendy got off the phone with Sidney after checking on the patient's condition. Once the immediate rush died down, she looked up and noticed James was still standing at her door.
"Is there something else?" Her brows were furrowed, and her tone sounded cool as if the earlier conversation had never happened. "If it's nothing important, you can leave now."
James opened his mouth, but before he could say anything, an elderly woman with silver hair hurried in, her eyes filled with tears. Her name was Melinda Horton.
"Dr. Sanders! Thank you, thank you so much. If it weren't for you, my daughter… she might not be alive right now."
Melinda's voice trembled with emotion as she dropped to her knees.
Wendy rushed forward and caught her arm before she could kneel. "Mrs. Coleman Senior, please don't. I'm a doctor—saving lives is my job. You don't have to do this."
