CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY ONE – A VACATION
Deonna shook her head. "I can't just leave Kayla. And Logan... he'd lose it if he found out I went away with Marcus."
Nia's expression turned stern. "Deonna, listen to me. You are allowed to have a life outside of being Kayla's mom. You're allowed to be happy. Logan doesn't get a say in that anymore."
Deep down, Deonna knew Nia was right. But years of putting everyone else's needs before her own were hard to shake.
"What if..." Deonna began hesitantly, "What if I go, and Logan uses it as an excuse to pull away from Kayla again? What if he decides he doesn't want to be involved anymore?"
Nia shook her head firmly. "Then that's on him, not you. You can't keep living your life based on Logan's reactions. If he truly wants to be a good father to Kayla, he'll do that regardless of what's happening between you two."
Deonna nodded slowly, feeling a weight lift from her shoulders. She picked up her phone, her fingers hovering over the keys as she contemplated her response to Marcus.
