Dominic POV
Dominic stood by the window of the motel, jaw tight as the weight of his own fury pulsed through him. The air in the room was thick, almost suffocatingly so, while the only other sound came from Marco groaning faintly on the couch behind him.
“It is not our fault,” Luca croaked, shifting the ice pack placed against his forehead. “They said they were lonely. They asked us to come over to spend time together. We did not think anything was amiss. They both seemed in good spirits.”
Dominic looked away from the window, his eyes narrowing deeply at his cousin. “And you fell for it?”
“What, would you have liked us to test everything they gave us? Be realistic, cousin. They slipped something in our drinks without us seeing. Next thing we know, we are waking up on the floor.”
Dominic didn’t even answer. His fury was too heavy to make room for words.
