Melody still felt a little guilty toward Echo.
Ever since she brought it home, they had already moved several times. It was well known that pets struggled to adjust to new environments.
She picked Echo up, gently rubbing its head and murmuring softly to calm it down.
For a moment, she forgot that Jeremy was still there, but Jeremy didn't seem to mind.
He quietly looked around the apartment. It wasn't large—at around 430 square feet, making it a small one-bedroom unit. Yet, everything inside was decorated in warm tones, giving the space a cozy feeling.
On the couch, he noticed the familiar small blanket Melody always used, and a few of her plush toys lined up neatly.
For a split second, a thought flashed through his mind. Wherever Melody was, that place would always feel warm and like a home.
He stepped further inside. However, with the room being as small as it was, his tall figure instantly made the space feel cramped.
