Cillian's gaze never wavered from Bellatrix's, even as his words hung heavy in the air between them, even as the silence stretched out to thin between them.
Bellatrix's breath was lodged in her throat. Her heart picked up its pace, beating faster than it ever had. Her palm became clamming in a matter of seconds.
But despite all the obvious signs of panic and fear, when she spoke, her voice came out as steady as possible.
"What?" She asked.
Cillian's eyes drifted down to her stomach and even though it was now covered, his eyes lingered for a second far too long before he looked up.
Meeting her gaze, he repeated, "the child, what–"
Before he could finish, Bellatrix snorted. The sound came out a little louder than she'd expected and slapped Cillian harder than she ever would have imagined.
"Is this a joke? Are you really asking me that question, Cillian?" She asked, steadying her voice as best as she could and burying the sense of panic.
She couldn't slip up. She couldn't let Cillian know
