Elliot nodded. Ever since the amputation, he had rarely left the house. But this time, he had quietly slipped out just to see Nora.
It was the first time he'd traveled so far by himself since losing his leg. The trip was anything but easy.
There were stairs his wheelchair couldn't climb, sidewalks lined with narrow stone pillars that left him stuck on the other side of the road, and going up ramps was a struggle—every push forward seemed to send him sliding three steps back.
By the time he arrived, he was worn out. But the moment he saw Nora, all that exhaustion vanished.
He was nervous, but hope sparked in his eyes as he finally said the words he'd been holding in for so long. "Nora, I never had a child with Claire. Will you forgive me?"
