The scent of sandalwood hit me the moment I stepped out of the elevator.
He showed up again.
Of course...
I didn't know what was wrong with him.
He kept showing up in my workplace, no matter how cold I had been toward him, becoming more dominant, saying things that sometimes made my heart flutter, but still not the words I wanted to hear.
I bit the inside of my cheek, took a deep, calming breath, and steeled myself before stepping inside, already feeling the tension creeping up my spine. The meeting hadn’t even started, yet my pulse was racing like I’d stepped into battle instead of a boardroom.
