Chapter 83:Deadly Deceptions
(Grace’s POV)
The dim lighting in the healing chamber did little to mask the suffocating atmosphere. My veins burned like liquid fire coursed through them, every pulse of silver poisoning draining what little strength I had.
I lay on the bed, gripping the sheets tightly as Sarah and Daniel stood by, their faces shadowed with suspect.
Sarah’s voice broke the silence, trembling as she paced in front of me. "Grace, we need to talk. Something isn’t adding up about the missing crystals."
My mind raced, trying to conjure a believable story. My body was weak, but my mind had no choice but to stay sharp.
"I... I think the rogues took them," I gasped, forcing my voice to sound weak and strained. "There were sightings near the sacred vault... I-I was too sick to stop them."
I shot Sarah a desperate look, watching her expression soften immediately. Of course, she wouldn’t question me—not her "perfect" daughter, not when I was suffering like this. Her maternal instincts blinded her entirely,
