CHAPTER 331 FAMILIAR YET DISTANT
That evening, in the Red Moon pack, Marcus was in the dining room in his family home.
The memory he had of this place was filled with warmth, laughter, and unnecessary bickering.
But with Lunaria here, it felt warmer than ever to the point of suffocation, not because of the smell of roasted venison and freshly baked bread that filled the air, but rather because of her effect on him.
His mind was still reeling from the afternoon’s revelations about Lunaria—a childhood friend he didn’t remember—now sitting across the table from him, her presence impossible to ignore.
The small family gathering had turned into something else entirely when his mother, ever the hostess, insisted Lunaria join them for dinner.
At first, Marcus hoped his Mama’s good intentions would provide a buffer, something to lighten the heavy tension that clung to him since their awkward reunion.
But the longer they sat at the table, the more apparent it became that Lunaria was here for more than just pleasantries.
