Alexander's POV
The door clicked shut, but I knew better than to think this moment of privacy would last.
Sarah lay beneath me, her lips still parted, cheeks flushed with color that hadn't been there when I first rushed her to the hospital.
The sight of her falling down those stairs had torn something primal loose inside me, something I'd been fighting to keep caged for too long.
The door cracked open again, and Jeremy poked his head in, forcing a smile that didn't reach his eyes. "Alpha—I mean, Alpha Alexander!"
"What is it?" I straightened in my chair, composing my expression into one of cold indifference. As if I hadn't just been caught kissing an unconscious woman. As if I hadn't almost lost my mind when she fell.
Jeremy cleared his throat nervously. "The nine o'clock meeting, sir? You haven't forgotten, have you?"
I said nothing, turning away to give him only my back as an answer.
The meeting was the last thing on my mind. How could I care about business when Sarah was lying here
