CHAPTER NINETY-NINE BACK TO THE FOLD
JADE’S POV
I didn't feel comfortable with his cousin just a few feet away. At the same time, I aggressively interrogated him, and he must have understood that because we were leaving to go somewhere else right after he mumbled something to the guy I was running away from. The car wasn't parked too far from where we were, so I didn't get exhausted or sweaty; I was still as fresh as a plum, mainly since I had been gasping for breaths when I got here with his less-than-th gentlemanly relative.
I get into the car after he opens the door, and he drops his stuff inside, but he doesn't get in; instead, he continues the conversation with his cousin, who I thought was already gone, so I wait for them to finish so we can leave, not like I had a choice. His phone pings, and I turn incognizable to stare at the notification on the screen. It's a message from someone, and while I can't read what it is since it's blurred, I can see the name of the sender, 'Miss. Slovik'.
