CHAPTER 9 THE WHITELIST
JADE’S POV
"Have a seat," Tom tells me when we reach the Thanks to my… brief conversation with Mr. Miller in that slower-than-a-slug elevator on topics that don't concern him. I've not been as excited to get the job as I was previously. He's made me doubt myself again, and I hate that I'm partially listening to him. I haven't been able to comfortably talk to Mr. Warner on the phone without hearing his stupid voice. "He wants to fuck you" is all I can seem to hear whenever I share something as simple as a laugh or even a joke with Tom, and I know, I do, that I should ignore what comes out of his mouth. Still, I can't help but be human and wonder if there's even a speck of truth to what he said.
