#Chapter 44: Visitor
Ella POV
"I'm sorry, I have to take this," I said, motioning to my ringing phone. “It’s my father.”
"No problem," Elizabeth answered. "Go ahead, I don't mind."
I smiled appreciatively at her and put the phone to my ear. "Hello?"
"David is here," my father said, his tone laced with obvious irritation. "He refuses to leave unless he speaks to you."
"I have nothing to say to him," I replied, equally irritated. "I just saw his latest television appearance, and it's clear he has nothing of value to say to me."
"I agree," my father said, "but I think it's time we put an end to all this. I'd like you to speak to him face-to-face one last time, and if he continues to cause trouble after that, I'll handle it."
I hesitated. I really didn’t want to have anything more to do with David, but he wasn’t going to stop bothering me or my family.
