Chapter 280 It Doesn’t Hurt? So We’ll Continue Tonight?
Charles lowered his head to look at her, chuckled, then bent over to pick her up, putting her face down on his lap, and reached out to massage her waist.
The force he applied was just right as heat enveloped her sore waist. It was very comfortable.
However, Sophia felt uneasy out of force of habit when she was lying face-down as she could not see him. She put her hands on the couch and tried to get up.
"Don't move." Charles tapped her hip twice and pressed her down again.
He did not use a lot of force when he slapped her buttocks, but at that very moment, her vision was immensely sensitive and the spot he touched felt like it was sprinkled with fire. With a whoosh, the fire began spreading to her limbs and bones. Astonishingly, it was scalding.
Sophia felt like her head was struck by lightning as it went blank in an instant. Even her body was stiff. It took a long time for her to come back to her senses.
"My waist doesn't hurt anymore. Put me down." Sophia's tongue had turned rigid. It was difficult to even speak.
Charles was still massaging her waist slowly. "It doesn’t hurt? So we’ll continue tonight?"
Sophia was stumped for words.
"I've seen, touched, and penetrated, but now you’re getting shy when I’m just massaging your waist?" Charles' gaze fell on her curvy figure. His throat was slightly dry and he forced himself to look away.
Sophia pressed her lips firmly and frowned subtly.
Was this… how all men talk after their first time?
The force that Charles used to massage her waist was moderate. The soreness on her waist had been reduced greatly. Sophia simply lay down on the couch and cooperated with him as he massaged her.
After massaging her waist for some time and thinking that that should suffice, he then shifted his position and started massaging her leg. Sophia was quite embarrassed to tell him that her calves were not the ones that were uncomfortable but the area above her knee was.
"Does it feel better?" Charles asked.
Sophia hummed in reply, her voice sounded muffled because she was facing downward. "It feels so much better."
As soon as her voice fell, the doorbell rang suddenly.
"Go on ahead and get the door." Sophia clambered away from him and sat on one side. She felt so much better when she was lying on her stomach earlier, as soon as she moved, though, her body started feeling uncomfortably sore again.
Charles got up to open the door, but after taking a closer look at the visitor, he pursed the corners of his lips and slammed the door shut.
"...Leah?" The door closed so fast that Sophia was unable to see clearly.
Charles' eyebrows were strained with a faint trace of disgust as he hummed in reply.
"Master Lewis and William’s apology was posted on the news and left a good impression on the public yesterday. Leah must be here for the same reason." Sophia tugged at her lips. "I think you should open the door for her."
Charles glanced at her and said, "With Grandpa around, she won’t be able to pull any of her petty tricks. You don’t have to do this to yourself."
"I can do it myself. I am better off on my own." Sophia trudged slowly to the door and opened it.
At the door, Mr. Jones was pushing an empty wheelchair, whereas Leah was kneeling on the ground with a pale face and tearful eyes. The weather was cold, but she was only wearing a thin patient’s gown, looking like a little white flower that was swaying in a storm.
Sophia glanced around but did not see any reporters. Even so, Leah had always been a meticulous person, hence no one could say for sure if someone was photographing them in secret.
"Soph… Sophia," Leah called out. Her voice sounded very hoarse. She was choking with sobs so badly that she could hardly speak. "I'm sorry, I'm really… I'm really sorry, I..."
Sophia frowned in a concerned manner and reached out to help her up in a hurry. "Get up quickly, Ms. Jones. I don't blame you."
"No, even... even if you don't blame me, I still... I still can't forgive my... myself." Leah was slightly surprised by her reaction today, but only for a fleeting moment as though it was all just an illusion.
Guilt and regret were written all over her face. She choked with sobs and said, "I’m… I’m just like you, blinded by love… that’s why I did… did such a thing…"
She covered her face with her hands as tears flowed out through the gaps between her fingers, making her look particularly heartbreaking.
"I really don't blame you, get up quickly." Sophia said sincerely, "If I actually blamed you, then I would have blown the whistle already as I have already collected all the evidence a long time ago."
Leah knelt on the ground and shook her head in distress. "If you don't blame me, why did you... why did you ask Charles to send someone to spread the news then? It's all my fault, I’m sorry!"
"This is indeed your fault." Sophia sighed. "I had no intention to expose your little tricks at first, but you’re just too cruel that you just had to threaten Charles with all the fake evidence and even planned to take this to court when Charles did not give his consent to stop my treatment."
"Sigh, I was forced to expose you. I am left with no choice too. I hope you can understand!"
She bent down to help Leah up. Her pajamas slid down a little because of her action, revealing the dense hickeys that looked unusually ambiguous and romantic.
Leah looked up and saw these hickeys and her body stiffened. Her tears hung on her eyelashes and fell off after a very long pause.
"Oh my, you saw that?" Sophia straightened up in a hurry and tugged at her collar. She then glared at Charles, her voice sounded somewhat coquettish. "It’s all your fault!"
Charles walked up to her, put his arms around her waist, lowered his head, and pecked her on the lips. "Why is it my fault now? Who’s the one pestering me last night saying that she really wants it?"
Sophia, "..."
"This is normal for couples. Uncle Jones and Leah will understand. They won't laugh at you." Charles reached out and pinched her nose in an exceedingly affectionate manner.
Leah clenched her fist slightly and lowered her head, suppressing the jealousy and envy in her eyes.
Mr. Jones let out a gentle cough at the sight of this.
Leah unclenched her fist and raised her head, staring at them as they glued tightly together with teary eyes, trying to suppress the jealousy in her heart. "No matter what, I still want to say sorry for hurting you."
She took a deep trembling breath and said with great misery, "But I still treat you as my friend and have minimized the harm I’ve done to you."
"If I wanted to kill you, I would have prosecuted you for intentional homicide two years ago so you would stay in prison for the rest of your life. If that happened, you wouldn’t even have the opportunity to collect evidence at all."
Sophia looked astonished and hurt after hearing what she said, misinterpreting her words on purpose. "So that is what you have been thinking about? I have always treated you as my best friend, yet you tried to put me in prison for the rest of my life for intentional homicide?"
Leah did not press charges against her back then simply because she wanted to use this as a threat to get Charles to marry her.
Right now, Leah was probably regretting her decision for not suing her back then!
"Sophia, you got the wrong idea. That’s not what I… meant." Leah bit her lip, her tears falling like the rain. "I… I was just..."
She tried to keep her eyes open, but her body still swayed as though she would collapse any time now.
"Charles!" Sophia wrapped her arms around his in panic. "Did you record our conversation just now? If Ms. Jones passed out right now and trims the recording to frame me like what she did two years ago, I might have to go to prison again!"
