Chapter 16
When Flora woke up, she heard the flight attendant's announcement.
“Good morning, passengers. You may now disembark.”
“Okay, thank you.” She walked out of the airport and saw familiar yet unfamiliar scenery. She felt as if she had just woken up from a long dream and returned home.
By the side of the road, her mother waved at her. “Flora!”
“Mom, I’m back.” She smiled. It wasn’t so bad to think of it all as a dream. Now that she had woken up, she needed to return to her own life.
Mr. Hill helped carry the suitcase, furrowing his brow. “Why is there so little stuff? Have you been struggling out there all these years?”
“Of course not. I just didn’t feel like carrying such heavy things. I threw away everything that wasn’t important anyway. There’s everything we need at home.” Flora hurried to explain.
Hearing this reason, her parents finally relaxed.
They took a taxi home. Upon arriving, Mr. Hill helped his daughter unpack the suitcase, while Mrs. Hill brought out a plate of sliced fruit.
