Bethany was taken aback by the thought. If Trystan was faking his suicide to deceive her, she wouldn't know how to forgive him.
"Trystan," she said, while they were eating pasta, "you're not lying to me, are you?"
"Of course not!" he replied with absolute certainty. "Why would you ask that?"
She shook her head, thinking she must be overthinking things. After all, he had never lied to her before, even in the past.
After lunch, he said he was tired and asked her to accompany him upstairs to rest for a while.
Her face instantly turned red as she sensed he might have ulterior motives. "Go by yourself."
"No way!" Trystan held her close, behaving coquettishly. "If you don't come, I won't go either. Should we do something else instead?"
As he spoke, he couldn't suppress a yawn.
Bethany knew that he often worked late into the night from home. It was no surprise he felt tired during the day. She felt a pang of sympathy for him.
"Fine, I'll go with you," she relented. "But I'm warning
