"Mom," Weslee greeted with practiced politeness, despite the elder woman's obvious disdain.
Luna Tina turned to her son as if Weslee hadn't spoken.
"Why is she here?" she demanded.
Alpha Shawn's jaw tightened.
"She's my Luna," he growled, irritation flashing in his eyes.
"Since I'm coming back for dinner, where else would she be if not with me?"
"But she..." Luna Tina's face contorted with contempt.
"Mom," Alpha Shawn cut her off sharply, his Alpha authority seeping into his voice.
"I don't want to repeat myself."
The tension crackled between mother and son like electricity.
Weslee remained silent, her face a careful mask of indifference.
After four years of such treatment, she had perfected the art of emotional detachment.
"That's enough," Alpha Shawn finally said. "Let's go in and eat."
