James Grant raised an eyebrow, looking indifferent. "Since when do you care about her?"
"I couldn't care less about how she's doing. But if she messes with someone she shouldn't, I don't care if she's your sister or not. I won't let it slide."
"Whatever." James shrugged like it was none of his business. He never had much of a bond with Alice anyway. "She’s grounded by the old man lately. Probably doesn’t even have a chance to stir up trouble."
Edward dropped his gaze, his thoughts unreadable.
James had already gotten the gossip he came for—enough to satisfy Laura Grant who loved a juicy story. The rest? Not his problem.
With his business done, James stood to leave, no hesitation at all. Before walking out, he still tossed Edward a final bit of “advice.”
"If you really want something with your secretary, maybe finalize that divorce first. Don’t half-ass it. It’s just messy."
Then without waiting for Edward to say a word, he turned and strode out of the office.
