Just as Clara thought Matthew had left long ago, she heard some strange noises coming from the kitchen.
"Matthew!" Clara called out his name in the spacious living room.
"What's the matter?" Matthew, holding a plate of fried eggs and a glass of warmed milk, appeared flustered and hurried.
Matthew looked completely innocent.
"Are you still pretending?"
Matthew forced a sheepish smile and, attempting to placate her, guided Clara to sit down.
"If David asked me just one question now, the top trending news would be about the sudden appearance of the ex-wife of the Garcia Group's president! Are you using me to ward off your romantic troubles?"
"Don't leak any information! If I end up on the trending news again, you'll be in big trouble!" she added.
Matthew nodded nervously, and quietly moved closer to Clara.
