Alex knew Emma was justifiably upset, yet he felt compelled to ask for leniency.
"I understand how you feel, Emma, but she's still my sister. Can we give her one chance to make amends?"
Emma's response was icy. "After what happened today, you're asking me to let it slide because she's your sister? If that knife had found its mark, I might be in the hospital right now, or worse. Remember, this isn't her first offense against me."
She was firm, her resolve clear. "I'm not a doormat, Alex. I won't just overlook this. I think you should prepare for what's coming. I haven't even brought up your family's past actions. If I did, it could get much worse for all of you."
