Memories flooded Reuben's mind as he stood watching Selena. She was clutching her stomach and wasn't looking at him.
Seeing this, Reuben got up from the chair and said, "Get some rest."
"Okay. Goodnight, Uncle Reuben," Selena replied.
Reuben left the room, and Selena continued to stare at the door where he had just gone out, even forgetting the pain in her stomach.
She slowly curled up on her bed, hugging her knees and burying her face in her arms.

That night, Selena tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep.
