The morning sun slipped through the curtains of the room, gently waking me up. Today was a special day—the day of Alaric and Celine's baptism.
I stretched, feeling Kaelos still asleep beside me, his arm wrapped protectively around my waist. He had come home late last night, and I knew he must be very tired. But today, no matter how tired he was, we both had to be there for our children.
Slowly, I slipped out of his embrace and walked to the nursery. Alaric and Celine were still fast asleep in their cribs, their little faces so peaceful.
I smiled, gently stroking Alaric's cheek. “It's a big day for you, little soldier,” I whispered. Then I turned to Celine. “And for you too, my little princess.”
The door opened slowly and Kaelos entered, his hair still tousled, but a warm smile on his face.
“Already awake?” he asked softly, walking towards me.
“I was too excited to sleep any longer,” I admitted, leaning against his chest as he hugged me from behind.
