"Denise, go get a box of flower tea from Hudson," Linda King called out.
"Okay," Denise replied and turned to leave.
She honestly didn't expect to run into Jason in the hallway. She froze, lips parted, but not a word came out. After everything that had happened between them, what could she even say?
"Denise! I told you to get the tea—what are you standing there for?" Linda's sharp voice came from behind. So she'd followed her too.
"I'm on it," Denise said quickly.
"Hold on, I'll go with you," Linda snapped, walking over without giving her a chance to refuse.
Jason brushed past them without even glancing Denise's way. The air between them felt colder than ever. Linda must have been tagging along just to keep an eye on her—worried she'd try to get close to Jason again?
She really was overthinking it.
