CHAPTER EIGHTY SEVEN - FITTING IN THE MOLD
A soft knock on her door startled her out of her reverie. With a deep breath, she called out, "Come in."
The door creaked open, revealing Zaya, her face etched with concern.
"You alright, Karina?" she asked, her voice gentle.
Karina hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Just… tired."
Zaya sat beside her on the bed, offering a reassuring smile. "It's understandable," she said softly. "Mother can be… intense, especially when it comes to Nancy. But don't take it personally."
Karina sighed. "It's just… I'm trying my best, but I feel like I'm always on thin ice with her."
Zaya squeezed her hand. "You'll get there, Karina. Believe me. It takes time to earn Mother's trust, but she can be fair. And Nancy, well, she has a way with everyone. Don't be fooled by her playful facade, though. She's as sharp as a tack, and as fierce as a tigress when she needs to be."
A flicker of curiosity sparked in Karina's eyes. "Tell me more about her. About what she does outside the Manse."
Zaya chuckled
