Chloe grimaced at the smell—the acrid odor of burnt hair and singed flesh. She gagged in reflex, the ropes biting into her wrists as she reeled back of their own accord from the source of the grotesque odor.
Then, at last, her dazed, couldn't getes focused on the crumpled, smoking form at her feet. Bile set to rise in her throat at the anguished groans, ragged bubbles of agony escaping those ruined lips.
Gods, that. person? She couldn't get through the mass of charred flesh and tattered remains of clothing, literally fused to the body. I let out another guttural wheeze, and Chloe nearly lost the contents of her stomach right then and there.
This wasn't how this was supposed to go! They were just going to talk, try, and reason with the rogue wolf that had been stalking their hunting grounds. But the moment she and Mason had figured out where that loser was hiding, the deranged little shit attacked with feral fury.
