A shiver tore down my spine. I couldn't breathe—not just from his grip, but from the fear clawing up my chest.
I instantly recalled Declan's warning—"He is a demon, Anna. Stay away from him."
Was this what he meant? This terrifying side of Lucian, so cold and cruel, willing to destroy everything I held dear?
Terror gripped my heart, my body shaking uncontrollably as I looked up at him through wide, tear-filled eyes. "Please, Lucian… don't hurt them," I whispered, my voice trembling with panic. "I'm sorry. Just… don't go near my mom or Zane. I'm begging you."
My heart thudded in my chest as I scrambled for something—anything—that might change his mind. "I—I was wrong. I never should have come near you. The truth is… I don't love you. I only got close to you because you were rich. That's all. I'm sorry. Please… just forgive me and leave them out of this."
For a moment, something flickered in his eyes—something raw and wounded. But he didn't say a word.
