Jenna lowered her gaze, and a shadow briefly clouded her eyes. Why would she ever look at anyone else when there was a man as outstanding as Curtis?
He belonged with her, not Marceline. That wretched woman was nothing more than a country bumpkin, dragging around more baggage than she could carry. She and Curtis came from entirely different worlds.
Jenna took a deep breath and said softly, "Curtis is your friend. Don't say something like that again." Nate cast his gaze downward, biting back the bitterness rising in his chest.
After ending, Jenna sat down and gently took Serena's hand. "Nate just told me that Curtis acquired a company because of Marceline. He's already been running himself into the ground over the deal with Luminex. Now, he's taking on another company. I'm afraid he might wear himself out."
