Curtis hadn't come home that night. He had been out drinking with some guys.
James showed up a little late, his expression dark.
Curtis held onto his wine glass, dragging his feet at the thought of going home.
James dropped onto the couch and took one look at the liquor in his hand. He yanked it away, dumping the whole thing straight into the trash.
Curtis clicked his tongue. "You just wasted a glass from a 200-thousand-dollar bottle."
James set the glass down.
"Go ahead. Keep trashing your body. You almost drowned two years ago. It was pure luck you made it out of that.
"And now with your stomach always acting up? You're basically signing Marceline up to be a widow if you don't stop."
Curtis leaned back in his seat, all swagger and zero concern.
"Would she stay a widow for me? Please. I'll be cold in the ground less than a week before she's out looking for husband number two."
James could tell Curtis wasn't being honest about everything. After seven years of knowing Curtis,
