"Guess I said something wrong—Ronald Wright totally lost his temper and kicked me out."
"But hey, at least he let me keep the pastries."
"My ex’s pride is really something else. Never seen a guy get mad this easily."

I was in a pretty good mood, so I headed downstairs to scout for something to eat. But turns out nothing downstairs really hit the spot. I wandered around forever, couldn’t settle on anything, and finally just asked the landlady if I could borrow her kitchen.
She was clearly skeptical—didn’t believe I could cook at all. But after trying my pastries, she didn’t even hesitate. Told me to go wild in the kitchen.

Ronald sat staring at the pastries for a good while, lips pressed into a hard line. Then, after a pause, he reached out and picked up one shaped like a cute little piglet. He chewed it slowly, thoughtfully.
