The first half of what he said made me want to slap Ronald right across the face. No matter what’s going on between me and Jordan—whether my leg's messed up or if I look like some useless pretty face—that’s none of his damn business. He should just focus on his little life with Grace instead of running his mouth.
But then, hearing the second half froze me up for a second, then this uncontrollable joy hit me like a wave.
He actually agreed. Ronald finally wants a divorce!
I didn’t hesitate. I looked straight at him, relaxed and smiling like a weight was lifted off me.
“Sounds good. Once we seal the deal and head back home, let’s get that divorce done. Whoever backs out is a coward.”
His dark eyes narrowed, a chill in his gaze like icy flames ready to burn. Just then, my phone rang from the table. I glanced down—it was Jordan calling.
Out of nowhere, Ronald let out this low, mocking laugh. He didn’t say anything, but his tone still carried a punch. Cold and sharp.
