My uncle and Jordan just stared at me, completely dumbfounded. They’d both wanted to step in and say something for me earlier, but clearly didn’t expect me to snap back like that—it was like I left them no room to talk. And my mother-in-law? She looked like she’d just been hit by a truck.
Her hands were shaking, her face cycling between red and green with rage, finger pointed at me, yet not a single word came out.
