It was routine for Damian to lock in the items he favored at auctions, but purchasing the entire auction? That was completely unheard of.
Jordan had been working with him for years, and even he had never seen anything like it.
"Susan got slapped by someone who didn't know their place," Damian said casually. "I'm giving her a little gift to calm her nerves."
Jordan swallowed hard and gave me a conflicted look. He nodded slightly, then turned and quietly left the room.
"Damian," I said as I stood and spit out a mouthful of blood. "I truly misjudged you."
Damian frowned slightly, but I had already turned away and walked out. That night, I hosted a small gathering at my villa with several wealthy women in our social circle.
My best friend, Lily Callahan, slammed her wine glass on the table. "This is outrageous! If you hadn't carried him out of that snowstorm, he'd be long dead!"
