Chapter 40 She's Gone
The house was too quiet.
Anna rushed upstairs, dead set on dragging Giselle out.
Felix watched Elijah's face, trying to read him. Finally, he asked, "What about you? Do you think Pamela's illness has anything to do with Giselle?"
"I don't know. I'll wait for evidence," Elijah said coldly.
Then, he headed for the backyard.
Felix drew in a sharp breath at the sight of the beds packed with medicinal herbs.
"Gosh! She's growing rare herbs. What do you think she's up to?"
Elijah glanced toward the house.
Anna had come downstairs and was still zipping around like a headless chicken.
Elijah snapped a few photos of the herb plots and told Felix, "Have someone tend this. Nothing gets touched."
Then, he went back inside.
Anna hurried over, still running her own theory. "Elijah, Giselle ran because she's guilty. She knows I'm onto her, so she bolted."
She grew agitated and pressed further, "Can you issue a wanted notice? I'll offer a hundred-thousand-dollar reward to anyone who finds
