Cassandra said indifferently, "I probably won't be free tonight. We're working on a project at the company on a tight deadline."
Jack didn't look surprised. Still smiling, he asked, "What about tomorrow or the weekend? You should set aside a little time for me."
Cassandra said flatly, "If you have something to say, just say it. And if you're lonely, have your beloved daughter, Clara, keep you company. I'm sure she'd be delighted."
Jack's face darkened at once. Yet, because Cassandra might know Tristan, he swallowed his anger.
"You're still my daughter, and no one can change that," he muttered.
Cassandra laughed dryly. "You didn't call just to say such a thing. If that's all, I'm hanging up. I'm busy."
"Come home tonight. I need to ask you something. Just make sure you come," Jack insisted. Then, he ended the call before she could answer.
