"I guessed that Janet is your daughter," Terence said, opening the door wider.
The room was warm. Even with the door ajar, it wasn't cold, just slightly cool. It wouldn't be appropriate to close the door when a man and a woman were alone in the room. He stood at the doorway and didn't enter. From outside, only his back was visible.
Chantelle was seated by the window. She gave him a small, forced smile and said, "Yes."
Terence wanted to say that there was no need to hide from him or feel uncomfortable. But when he saw that she hadn't looked at him even once and that her gaze was fixed outside the window all the time, he swallowed the rest of his sentence.
