"Have you eaten? What's wrong? You can have a seat before telling us."
"No need. I just wanted to ask if Terence had already been discharged from the hospital," Chantelle said, forcing herself to look away from the dinner on the table.
Her sudden appearance had left Maryanne incredibly confused. "Yes, he was discharged. Are you looking for him?"
"Not for anything important. I just wanted to thank him for saving Janie and me," Chantelle explained, spouting out the first excuse she could think of.
"There's no need to be so polite. It was something that he should have done—"
