And what about Serena?
What had she done?
Serena stared at the documents in her hands as if they were some kind of monster. Her eyes locked on them for a long time.
Then, she suddenly snapped, ripping the A4 papers to shreds in a wild frenzy, one after another.
When they were all torn, she gasped for breath. Slowly, she crouched down and sank to the floor.
Clutching her head, she could no longer hold back her tears. Her sobs were heavy with regret and anguish, growing louder and louder until they became full-blown wails.
At last, she remembered what Gloria had said—Gloria had warned her that she'd regret it.
"I'm sorry, Chase!
"I'm sorry, Grandma. I should've listened to you!"
She regretted every last bit of it.
After crying her heart out, Serena ran off to find Lucian.
He was at a bar, partying with a crowd. The table in front of him was littered with beer bottles. He lounged on a sofa, flanked by two women in skimpy camisole dresses and heavy makeup.
