"What's wrong? Are you catching a cold? I'll make you some peppermint tea when we get home."
Samantha waved her hand awkwardly. "I'm not sick."
"You're not sick? Just an itchy throat? That could be the first sign of a cold. You should take it seriously."
"It's not that…" Samantha shrank under the weight of a particularly intense gaze, lowering her voice as she whispered, "There's someone behind you."
Layla chuckled.
"We're in a grocery store. Of course, there are people behind me."
Samantha sighed and covered her face, unable to handle the secondhand embarrassment. "Maybe you should check who's behind you."
Curious, Layla turned her head. Just a glance was enough to shock the lights out of her. "Holy shit!"
