There was no falling. Just floating… suspended between breath and ending, held inside a place where nothing remembered how to be real.
The Veil wasn’t darkness, it was a bright light. Too much for eyes even.
White, silver, violet— the trio swirling, bleeding, and bending into shapes that flickered like dying stars.
Time felt thin here, like a ribbon pulled until it forgot it was supposed to hold anything.
I tried to breathe, but my lungs didn’t move. It felt as though I am alive without air.
Panic surged, but it was slow, muffled, like I was screaming under deep water.
“Kira? Veraka?” I called for my wolves. My voice didn’t echo. It barely existed.
But no response from them. It felt wrong, too wrong. They were always there, loud and clashing. And now, their sudden absence felt too incomplete in my chest.
“Please. Someone answer me,” I whispered, my voice shaking with tears.
