"I'm not hungry, Mr. Kent," Perseus said with a smile, declining Kent's offer.
"Uh, so…" Kent faltered, clearly unsure how to proceed. Perseus was not giving them any leeway, showing no regard for the Jagger family. He couldn't help but wonder if this was his way of asserting dominance.
He then cleared his throat and looked pointedly at Nancy. He was thinking that since Perseus and Nancy had shared a warm embrace and pleasant conversation earlier—even to the point where Nancy was blushing—surely Perseus would show her some deference.
Perseus rapped his fingers against the table, his displeasure evident in the subtle shake of his head. "I must say, I find this kind of privileged, entitled behavior distasteful, Mr. Jagger Senior and Mr. Kent. How could you guys shove a woman forward as a buffer whenever there's an issue? Has the Jagger family run out of men who can stand up for themselves? Have all of the men in the Jagger family become cowards?"
