Perseus was a smart guy. He knew what she was hinting at.
For the next hour, silence filled the car. It was late, and the roads were nearly deserted. From a distance, their vehicle looked like a shadow slicing through the night.
The wind picked up, growing into a low, howling sound. Along with it came the thickening stench of salt and blood. Under the gentle glow of a blue moon, they could spot the arcane barrier from afar.
Once Lavender parked the car, she immediately turned off the headlights. They didn't exit right away. Instead, they cast cautious glances around the area.
Ten minutes passed before they confirmed everything seemed quiet. Then, they stepped out.
As they reached the shoreline, Perseus' brow furrowed. "Something's wrong. Why has the water level dropped? Is it low tide?"
