It was an hour later when Perseus and Lavender finally reached Melbridge Archipelago. Though the sea level was down roughly another five feet compared to the previous night, the white barrier still stood firm in place.
"How peculiar. It just stands there, seemingly impervious to the elements," Perseus muttered, taking a few steps forward.
It was utterly bizarre. There was a distinct breeze by the shore, but the sea remained completely undisturbed, not a single wave to be seen. In addition, the seawater's hue had faded further since yesterday, and that subtle, metallic scent of blood was now almost undetectable.
Yet, upon closer inspection, Perseus noticed no sign of marine activity whatsoever. It was quiet, disturbingly, deathly quiet.
"You should park the car somewhere hidden, get the gear ready, and prepare to dive," Perseus instructed, taking a deep drag of his cigarette.
