The chill running down my spine wasn't because Nicholas had successfully wrestled the project leadership from my grasp. Nor was it because my father-in-law had demanded my resignation without a second thought.
It was because everything unfolding before my eyes matched exactly what that mysterious stranger had predicted.
The project had indeed failed. Someone had stepped in to save it at the critical moment, just as foretold. He'd been right about everything.
