Chapter 17
When Gus emerged from the basement again, Simon handed him a handkerchief.
"Mr. Manning, the forensics results are in. The DNA from the remains doesn't match Ms. Pierce's. There's a possibility she didn't die."
Gus wiped his hands with the handkerchief, and his dulled eyes flickered with renewed light. "What did you say?"
"We recovered small tissue samples, and the DNA doesn't match Ms. Pierce. Additionally, the airline reported that one passenger never boarded the flight that day. It could have been Ms. Pierce, though it's also possible there was a mistake," Simon spoke respectfully.
The investigation gave Gus hope. As long as there was even the slightest chance, he wouldn't give up easily.
"Then, we search until we find her. If Amara wasn't in that accident, she must be hiding somewhere, still angry with me.
"I want search teams deployed nationwide, and I want this story all over the Internet. Anyone with genuine information about Amara gets a reward—no questions asked."
