Chapter 14

The truth was finally out. News of Jayden and Logan uncovering Clara's lies and realizing her true colors spread like wildfire across the Internet. But there was no sympathy for them, only ridicule. Because it was too late. Natalie was already gone, and no amount of regret could bring her back. Carter Group's and Hall Group's stock prices plummeted overnight. Many shareholders and business partners hastily pulled out. After all, if these two men could betray their own younger sister and their fiancée for an adopted daughter, then they would do the same to their shareholders and partners one day. However, Jayden and Logan didn't care about any of that anymore. Their intense guilt toward Natalie drove them to desperately search for a replacement, hoping it would ease their pain. Their assistants searched for almost half a year and finally found a woman who looked exactly like Natalie. They looked so alike that the assistants themselves were stunned, frozen in place the moment they saw her, thinking she'd come back from the dead. After all, this woman looked just like Natalie, had the same habits and hobbies, and even had the same name. If they hadn't found her in Briarwood, they would've truly believed she was Natalie. It wasn't just the assistants who were shocked. The moment Jayden and Logan laid their eyes on the woman, they lost all control, rushing forward and pulling her into their arms. "Natalie!" "Natalie!" "You're back. You finally came back to us," they thought. However, the woman in front of them didn't even move a muscle; she didn't cry or tremble in fear. She just looked at them, confused, as if silently asking, "Do I really look that much like your younger sister and fiancée?" Her composure calmed Jayden and Logan down as well. Jayden was the first to break the silence. "Our assistants should've explained the arrangement to you before you came, right?" The woman nodded obediently. "From this moment on, you're Natalie. You are my fiancée and his younger sister," Logan chimed in. The woman quietly responded, "Alright." Tears welled up in the two men's eyes as soon as they heard her voice, which was almost identical to Natalie's. If they hadn't witnessed Natalie being blown up in front of them with their own eyes… If they hadn't searched the sea for days without finding her body… If they hadn't found that necklace she always wore, they would've truly believed this woman was her. Soon, a housekeeper arrived to lead the woman to Natalie's old bedroom. As she walked her down the hall, the housekeeper whispered, almost in awe, "You really do look just like our young miss. If we didn't know for sure that the late Mrs. Carter only had one daughter, we would've thought you two were twins." The woman smiled wordlessly. Her smile was exactly like Natalie's. The housekeeper couldn't help but tear up. She wiped her tears away and pushed the bedroom door open. Before she left, the kind-hearted housekeeper gave the woman one last piece of advice. "You don't have to do anything, really. As long as you show up in front of Mr. Carter and Mr. Hall with that face, they'll spoil you rotten." The woman froze before thanking the housekeeper. After the housekeeper left, she quietly looked around the room, taking in the home she hadn't seen in almost half a year. She never imagined she would come back to this place. But this time, she wasn't here to reunite with Jayden and Logan. She was here to send them to hell.
