Isadora stomped her feet in frustration. Left with no other choice, she took the subway home.
The lines she had prepared went unused, and the design samples she brought were barely looked at before Jerry ran off.
As it was noon, the employees had all gone for lunch. Isadora slumped at her desk, looking barely alive.
Her phone vibrated. Without even looking at it, she accepted the call. "Hello?"
"Isadora, how's it going? Did you manage to secure the client?"
She sat up straight. "Angelina."
"Weren't you supposed to meet a client today?"
Isadora hadn't planned to tell her. But since Angelina knew that man, there might be an opportunity.
"Angelina, I need to ask you something."
"What is it?"
"What's your relationship with Jerry? The man from the coffee shop?"
"Why bring that up? It's in the past." Angelina's face turned red. "Isadora, didn't we agree—"
"He's the client I met today. He left as soon as he saw me. He didn't even give me a chance to speak."
