Everyone knew Vera was a nightmare to deal with. A little mistake, and you'd either get yelled at or smacked. No surprise no one wanted to work directly for her. If they could avoid her, they did. This time, the maid just wasn't lucky enough.

The moment she barked those words, the maid bolted out like it was her big break.

Vera frowned as she looked at the tightly sealed, anonymous kraft paper package. Mumbling to herself, she tore it open.
With a soft rustle, a stack of photos spilled out. She grabbed one and looked closer. Her eyes widened, her face went ghostly pale.
Her breaths turned quick and shallow. Then, like she'd snapped, she started flipping through each photo like she'd gone mad.
All the photos were clearly taken in a hospital. The same figure showed up again and again—long hair down to the waist, sitting on a hospital bed or standing by the window, looking out.
