Malcolm searched every inch of the cliff wall. Then, undeterred by the waves and winds, he took a boat and combed through the area around the cliff base. He even donned diving gear to search beneath the waves.
However, no matter where Malcolm looked, there was no trace of Selene anywhere.
He returned home in a daze, looking utterly dejected. Only two days had passed since Selene's disappearance, but he seemed to have aged a decade.
When Stella saw that Malcolm had returned, she welcomed him in.
"Malcolm, I know you're worried about Selene, but the dead are gone—"
She abruptly stopped talking when she caught sight of the hateful look in his eyes. His gaze seemed to say he would make her suffer endlessly if she said one word more.
Stella tensed and didn't dare speak again. She only stood there and stared at Malcolm.
He didn't say a thing. Meanwhile, Stella, unwilling to back down, stood there in silence as well.
