Chapter 20
When the plane touched down on the tarmac, a light rain suddenly began to fall.
Luca had just stepped off the plane when the damp, cold air hit him, carrying that familiar scent of the city. He pushed away the hand holding the umbrella, letting the rain fall on his face.
The driver respectfully opened the car door for him, and he bent down to slide inside.
The car's heater was warm and strong. He closed his eyes, leaning back in the seat as exhaustion washed over him like a tide.
As the driver drove steadily, the street scenery outside ran past the windows. Luca had little interest in looking out. He pulled out his phone and dialed Taylor.
"Hello." His voice was a little hoarse.
On the other end, Taylor seemed momentarily stunned, then quickly replied respectfully, "Mr. Frey, are you back in Brindley?"
"Mm," he answered calmly. "Come to the downtown villa. I have something I need you to handle."
"Understood, Mr. Frey. I'll be there right away." Not daring to delay, Taylor left
